GLOBALG.A.P (formerly EUREPGAP) is a standardized practice for agricultural practices established by European retailers, which, in commercial terms, helps to ensure a viable farm system that allows for sustainable agricultural development and minimization of agro-chemical contributions.

In response to the demand of consumers, traders and their global suppliers, the European Retail Group has created and introduced a series of sectoral standards for the certification of agricultural products.

As an organization, GLOBALG.A.P dates back to 1997. As a result of British traders working with European supermarkets, it has become clear that consumers are interested in product safety, environmental impact, workers' health, safety and well-being, as well as animal safety and protection. Finally, they decided to harmonize their own standards and procedures and create an independent certification system for agricultural practices.
