Historical Background:
Georgian Craft Distillers LLC traces its roots back to the early 20th century when Mr. Niko Dadiani, the chief prince of Samegrelo, invited two German friends to Georgia in 1919. Enchanted by the region, one of these German visitors purchased land in the village of Etseri, near Kolkhida. They began cultivating fruits and corn to produce whiskey, gin, and vodka. With the expertise of German engineers, they established a small railway connecting Zugdidi to Poti, facilitating exports to Europe and the USA.
The original distillery operated until 1920, when the arrival of communism halted its activities. Today, remnants of the old factory and stories passed down through generations testify to its legacy.
Revival and Modern Operations:
In 2013, Mr. Trankle and his wife Manana revived this rich historical legacy by establishing Georgian Craft Distillers LLC. They built a modern distillery equipped with the world’s best craft stills from the renowned German Müller company, custom-designed to meet the highest standards. This state-of-the-art facility honors traditional methods while incorporating modern technology to produce exceptional spirits.
