At the beginning of the 20th century, the great ancestor of the Chotiashvilis settled in the Alazani plain, in the village of Saniore, on the right bank of the Lopota River. From that time on, from year to year, vintage was held and wine was poured into pitchers. With a great love for vines and vineyards, Ager is already the sixth generation, continuing the traditions of the ancestors.
Today, Kakha and Ucha Chotiashvilis are in charge of the family business. Kakha Chotiashvili, the younger brother, has taken over the responsibility of the winemaker and technologist. He enriched the inherited knowledge with scientific researches of wine technology and practical experience gained.
In 2002, the brothers decided to carry out a long-term plan and added rare grape varieties to their existing vineyards. This is how the first experimental ampelographic plots were created. Over time, the need arose to scale up the household and present the results to the general public.
