Description

Polyvim LLC is building the first polyethylene terephthalate bottle recycling (waste recovery) and polyester staple fiber plant in Georgia, which consumes the used polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles as a raw material. In the first stage, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles will be recycled into high-quality PET flakes and in the second stage, recycled PET flakes will be used to produce polyester staple fiber.
Polyvim LLC aims to create a high-quality value-added product from waste and at the same time to deal with one of the biggest challenges of the modern world - environmental pollution with plastic waste.
Polyester staple fiber is used in the manufacture of textiles, furniture, clothing as raw material for these and other related industries. For reference, based on the information obtained as a result of our long preparatory work with the support of experts and specialists in the field, about 750 (seven hundred and fifty) tons of plastic bottles are sent to the municipal landfill in Tbilisi every month. The initial production capacity of our facility is estimated at 800 (eight hundred) tons per year for the processing of such raw materials to obtain multifunctional polyester staple fiber. Consequently, our site will be able to fully purchase a used plastic bottle, instead of transporting and canning it in a landfill.
Procedurally, the obtained bottle material will be recycled: using special machines PET bottles will be sorted, crushed, washed, and be recycled into PET flakes. The obtained flakes are then sent directly to the polyester staple fiber production line, where they will get the final look after proper processing. At the same time, it will significantly reduce the cost of waste management in Tbilisi and will help to protect the environment.

Consumption of polyester staple fiber by the local market averages 100 (one hundred) tons per month, which is imported to Georgia. Consequently, our factory will be able to fully meet the demand of the local market, while exporting the rest of the products (most of the produced products, ≈85%). According to the terms of free trade agreements signed by Georgia with many of the largest markets, our products will be able to be competitive and in the long run be able to inflow foreign currency to Georgia at the expense of increased productivity and, consequently, sustainable export development. We think this issue is very important for the Georgian economy.
