Kardanakhi wine factory № 1 represents a unique type of marani (winery and wine cellar), built at the end of XIX c. Its uniqueness comes from unprecedented number of Qvevris (clay vessels). The winery produces up to 1 million liters of wine a year in 700 qvevris.
It was built at the end of XIX century by a famous Georgian politician Kote Abkhazi and at that time produced up to 50 tons of wine from Saperavi and Rkatsiteli grapes. Later the winery was bought by a Russian aristocrat earl Sergey Sheremetyev.
Our winery strictly follows the traditional Kakhetian method of wine production. It is equipped with the modern Italian equipment and accessories. In addition to 700 qvevris, the winery also has special tanks for capacity of 435 tons for proper wine storage.
