The first non-ferrous metal production facility in Georgia is considered to be a polymetallic mine and enterprise located in Bolnisi district, which is located 80 km southeast of Tbilisi.
The study of the ore deposit began in the 1940s. The exploration of the ore was carried out in several stages before its industrial development.
In 1959, the construction of one of the largest non-ferrous ore processing plants in Georgia began. It was in connection with this construction that an industrial settlement appeared - the town of Kazreti.
Since 1975, the plant has been extracting copper, barite, gold-silver quartzites and polymetallic ores, first processing, enriching and selling the extracted copper and barite ores.
